## What EdTribune Is

EdTribune is an education journalism platform that detects newsworthy enrollment trends in public school data and publishes data-driven articles for every state. Articles are grounded entirely in official state Department of Education datasets — no AI-generated statistics, no made-up numbers.

Each state has its own publication (e.g., The RIEdTribune, The AREdTribune) covering local enrollment changes, demographic shifts, district-level trends, and policy impacts.

## Data Sourcing

Every number published on EdTribune comes from a state DOE data package that pulls directly from official state education agency files. Each article includes R analysis code that both generates charts and independently verifies every numeric claim. The data pipeline is: state DOE releases data → automated detection identifies newsworthy changes → articles are written and fact-checked against the source data.

No statistic on this site comes from general AI knowledge or estimation. If a number appears in an article, it can be traced back to a specific state data file.

## Editorial Standards

- No byline or fake reporter name on articles
- Real outreach to school districts and stakeholders for comment
- "Did not respond to a request for comment" when applicable
- Correction policy: factual errors are corrected with a notice, version history is tracked
- Honest uncertainty: when data is ambiguous, the article says so
